FlyReno Multi Engine Flight school is based at Reno-Tahoe International Airport. Its unique location allows flight students to enjoy excellent recreation after their training flights. The airport serves 11 airlines. Over 130 daily flights! Friends can easily gather together because many airlines operate regular flights to Reno-Tahoe International Airport, including new destinations to Southern California.

Diverse Active Recreation

You can gather a group of friends and enjoy hiking, cycling, water sports, alpine skiing, and snowboarding together. Reno sits at 4,500 feet in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Unique alpine conditions – pristine lakes and snow-capped peaks. The high altitude provides cool summers and excellent snow conditions in winter.

Summer Recreation Opportunities

In the summer, the following opportunities open up for you in the nearby area. Lake Tahoe, 40 miles away, is North America’s largest alpine lake. Depth up to 1,645 feet! Crystal clear water with visibility up to 75 feet. In the morning the lake is smooth as glass – perfect for kayaking, SUP-boarding, parasailing. Nevada Beach for sunsets. Pope Beach for families. Baldwin Beach for swimming.

Hiking within 30-40 miles of Reno starts right in the city’s surroundings! Galena Creek Regional Park, 20 miles away, features 18 interpretive signs about the region’s history. Hunter Creek Trail with waterfalls just 15 miles from downtown. Mount Rose Wilderness between Reno and the lake: Chickadee Ridge, Tamarack Peak, Incline Peak – all within 30-35 miles.

Carson City, 30 miles from Reno, is the capital with rich history. Virginia City at 35 miles evokes the gold rush era. Truckee on the lake’s northern shore – a mountain town with shops and additional water activities.

The season lasts until May-June! Some resorts receive 300-500 inches of snow. Palisades operates until Memorial Day. Alpine Meadows until June, final days July 1-4. Diamond Peak, Sierra-at-Tahoe, Kirkwood – all within 40 miles. Terrain parks, halfpipes, backcountry skiing – huge selection.
